Marble

Dust at least once a week with a soft microfiber cloth. For wet cleaning, mild soap and water is recommended. Use a mild liquid dishwashing detergent or stone soap and water. Do not use regular cleaning products, as these will etch the stone surface over time. Avoid products with vinegar, bleach, ammonia, or citrus.

Acidic goods and drinks will damage marble. When using a marble countertop for food preparation, put down a protective sheet and wipe up any spills immediately. Stains that do occur will need to be dealt with according to what caused the stain. A poultice is a general solution for many stains. Apply the substance to the stain and cover with clear plastic wrap for a couple of days. Ensure the cover is taped down to lock in air. Rinse and dry the surface after washing.

Be sure to reseal the countertops when water fails to bead up with it splashes on the surface. Sealing will help prevent stains and damage. Spray or wipe the penetrating stone sealer over the surface, wait 4 or 5 minutes for it to dry, then wipe off any excess residue.

Stains left on the surface for an extended period of time could cause residual staining. These stains usually dissipate on their own. If a stain does persist, combine poutice powder with a small amount of mild liquid dish detergent to form a pasty substance. Apply the substance to the stain and cover with clear plastic wrap. Ensure the edges are tightly sealed with tape to lock in air. Allow to sit for a couple of days. Rinse and dry the surface after washing.
